No. It is said by the I Ecological Wine Contest of the Valencian Community, organized by Proava and the Committee of Ecological Agriculture of the Valencian Community (CAECV), and where 99 wines from 27 wineries have participated.

Bercial Blanco Selección is a plot wine, that is, it has been made with the best grapes from the best plots we have in Camporrobles (Requena). Besides, it has a very unusual feature in white wines, and that is that it has spent 3 months in French oak barrels. This means that this is a white wine with a certain body and creaminess, with more personality than any other young white wine.

The greatest complexity in the production of Bercial Blanco Selección is precisely this time in the barrel, since we must avoid the wood to overpower other great virtues that we find in it, such as its evocative aromas of citrus fruits and white flowers, and its freshness full of nuances when you drink it. In just one sip it is easy to detect its amplitude, creaminess and balanced acidity. Its personality allows it to be paired with foods of a certain character, such as cured cheeses, blue fish, meat, stews and all kinds of rice dishes.

This wine, which is not only organic but also vegan, is made from a balanced blend of three grapes: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Macabeo. A perfect trio that have a lot to do with the final result of Bercial Blanco Selección.

The winning vintage, 2017, was also highlighted by the Peñín Guide, which awarded it 91 points.

The 1st Organic Wine Competition leaves us with 5 more medals

The first edition of the Valencia Region Organic Wine Competition has also given us another 5 medals. So much so that we were the winery that received the most medals (6 of the 15 awarded).

Of these six, three have been gold medals, one of them for the unbeatable Pasión de Bobal red, in the category of mature red wines, another for Pasión de Bobal rosé in the category of rosés and the third for Pasión de Moscatel dry, in the category of young whites. All of them are monovarietal wines, in the case of the red one, with grapes from old vineyards of more than 60 years old.

The two remaining medals have been silver and have gone to Mariluna blanco, a wine with a very special blend of Verdejo and Macabeo; and to Bercial Ladera Los Cantos, a plot wine made with Bobal and Cabernet Sauvignon, with an 18-month ageing in first-use French oak barrels.

So as you can imagine, at Bodega Sierra Norte we have many reasons to be happy :)
