Who has tried them knows that they are wines of gold and this has been evident in the Proava 2019 wine competition, which has raised as maximum winners in their respective categories Mariluna white and Pasión de Monastrell. But in addition, Mariluna red has obtained a silver medal and Pasión de Bobal rosé, a distinction, a special appointment that has not been given in any other category and that, exceptionally, has been granted this year by the proximity in the results between our wine and the third awarded.
With these great results, we have achieved that our wines are recognized in the 4 categories in which we competed: whites, rosés, reds with up to three months of barrel, and reds with barrels from 3 to 6 months The prizes will be collected during the development of the Mostra Proava, which will be held from April 25 to 29 in Valencia, and where we will have a stand in which we wait for you all and where you can taste the award-winning wines, which we present below.
Proava Gold Medal for white Mariluna in the category of white wines
Mariluna white is a very special wine, because it is made with a rare grape and n the Mediterranean area, the Verdejo, more typical of the Rueda PDO, in the provinces of Valladolid, Segovia and Ávila. In this case, our Verdejo has a personality forged in the Mediterranean, and in Mariluna it is accompanied by the Macabeo. These factors are noted in the final result of the wine, which is fresh, with notes of white flower, citrus and apricot. It has a good step by mouth, friendly, with good acidity, complex and unctuous.
Proava Gold Medal for Pasión de Monastrell in the category of red wines from 3 to 6 months of aging
Pasión de Monastrell is a monovarietal made from Monastrell grapes from old vines over 50 years old. It is an ideal wine to drink with strong foods, such as red meats, game and duck, or a good cheese platter with personality. It is a wine with good intensity in aromas of fresh and ripe red fruit, which shows its passage through barrels with spicy touches of sweet paprika and red pimyena beans. The entrance in the mouth is powerful, balsamic, with volume, fresh and persistent. A super wine, that is!
Proava Silver Medal for Mariluna red in the category of reds with less than 3 months of aging
Tempranillo and Bobal are the two grapes chosen to create Mariluna red, a wine with personality, although friendly and good to drink, that It brings aromas of ripe fruit, cocoa, toasted notes and sweet spices. A fresh and elegant wine that also has a distinction in the wine selection of the wine critic James Suckling, who has awarded him nothing more and nothing less than 92 points.
Distinction for Pasión de Bobal rosé in the category of rosé wines
Pasión de Bobal rosé is a young wine made with Bobal grapes from vineyards over 40 years old. Bright light pink, intense nose with abundant hints of red fruit and subtle memory of rose petals. The palate has good structure, tasty, broad and balanced. A very remarkable pink, with a delicate pain in the purest French style.
