Do you know the figure of the sumillers? They are professionals who are responsible for selecting the wines that appear in the menus of the best restaurants, and that help customers to choose, from among the menu, the wine that will best match their tastes and the menu they will order. This, necessarily, leads them to try a wide variety of wines and to be true experts.

That is why the last prize that has reached us at the winery is so important to us. And it is that the Valencian Association of Sumillers (ASVASU) has awarded Cerro Bercial Ladera Los Cantos as one of the three best red wines of the Utiel-Requena PDO. Is not it great? It seems to us, because we start from a reality, and in this area great wines are made, so it is to celebrate that among all of them ASVASU has highlighted ours.

Cerro Bercial is our premium wine brand, formed by the awarded Ladera Los Cantos and Cerro Bercial Blanco Selección, which has also received this distinction in previous vintages.

Both are parcel wines, that is, they are made with the best grapes from our best vineyards. A double selection that allows us to create a wine of high expression.

In the case of Ladera Los Cantos, its elaboration is complex and peculiar, in it there is much oenological knowledge and great amounts of mime. In the process it goes through phases of pre-fermentative cold maceration, a long fermentation at a controlled temperature and a post-fermentation maceration with its skins. The last phase, that of malolactic fermentation, is made in first use French oak barrels, where it ages up to 18 months.

As a result, Cerro Bercial Ladera Los Cantos is a tremendously elegant wine, fresh, with a marked mineral character and fine toasted notes. A wine that when tasted offers memories of cocoa and ripe fruit. Complex and expressive. A wine worthy of the recognition that ASVASU has given us :)
